How Municipal Court Warrants Work
A warrant from an Arkansas County local court usually grows out of a traffic stop, a misdemeanor, an ordinance case, or a missed hearing. The paper trail varies. Public case material has used the stamp FTA WARRANT ISSUED, and a court may instead say "bench warrant" or "order of arrest." The county publishes no capias pro fine workflow of its own. Names can mislead you here. A city label does not always settle which court owns the record. Current Arkansas Judiciary material lists District Court departments at Stuttgart, DeWitt, Gillett, and St. Charles, while Stuttgart also posts a City Court contact and DeWitt's site keeps a City Court calendar clue. Confirm the current court from the citation and the clerk.
Arkansas County Citation Labels Matter
A citation can separate city, district, county, and state matters that sound alike. Write down the exact court name, case or citation number, charge type, hearing date, and agency. Then use Search ARCourts to pull up a filed public case in Arkansas County. A docket search is not a complete warrant register, though.
- Read the issuing court on the citation.
- Match the city and department in the current court directory.
- Review the public docket in date order.
- Ask the clerk for active, served, recalled, or quashed status.
- Follow only the procedure that court approves.
Humphrey makes this trickier. The town crosses the Arkansas County line into Jefferson County, so the city name alone cannot pick the right county.
Municipal Courts Across Arkansas County
Arkansas County municipal court naming runs mixed, and the table below maps each confirmed route and flags what still needs case-specific review.
| Place | Verified court route | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Stuttgart | City Court plus District Court department | Clerk 870-673-7951 |
| DeWitt | District Court; city calendar is a clue | Clerk 870-946-2503 |
| Gillett | Current District Court department | Clerk 870-548-2541 |
| St. Charles | Current District Court department | Clerk 870-659-2050 |
| Humphrey | Citation-specific; Jefferson County lead exists | Verify county first |
Older plans can explain a department's prior scope, but they cannot promise a current calendar or label. The AOC directory controls.
Stuttgart City Warrant Route
Stuttgart offers the clearest municipal trail in Arkansas County. The city page lists City Court at 514 S. Main, 870-673-7951. Its departments page puts the Police Department at the same address, with police phone 870-673-2171. Northern District Dispatch is listed separately at 870-673-1414. The Stuttgart general-information page documents the City Court contact.
That page confirms a contact route, not an online warrant list. Stuttgart posts no city warrant portal, recall form, or amnesty page for Arkansas County callers.
Arkansas County Municipal Warrant Checks
Arkansas County publishes no public municipal warrant list. Start with the city or District Court clerk named in the case. Search ARCourts for a public docket next. Still stuck on a law-enforcement question? Call the Sheriff's North office at 870-659-2066 or South office at 870-659-2060. For current detention and bail questions, booking answers at 870-659-2064. An Arkansas FOIA request can seek an existing non-exempt docket, index, policy, or fee schedule from the proper custodian, but it cannot force a new database or a restricted ACIC or NCIC search. The County Clerk keeps separate county records and is not the default custodian for city criminal process.
City Warrants and Arkansas County Service
Arkansas Code section 16-17-224 lets city police serve city ordinance and criminal process where the law covers it. District process may also route to a sheriff or constable. So the issuing court, the records custodian, the serving agency, and the detention custodian can be different offices in Arkansas County.
| Role | Local example | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Issuing court | City or District Court | Is the warrant still active? |
| Record keeper | Department clerk | What later docket events exist? |
| Serving agency | Police, sheriff, or constable | Which agency handles this process? |
| Detention custodian | County booking | What are current custody and bail facts? |
No official source puts every Arkansas County city warrant on the sheriff's selected Most Wanted page.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
An Arkansas County city court warrant record belongs to an underlying matter, and public access may show only part of it.
| Court and department | The exact issuing venue |
|---|---|
| Case or citation | NUMBER WITHHELD for privacy |
| Underlying matter | Traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, or other case |
| Docket event | FTA, warrant, service, appearance, or recall wording |
| Amount or bond | Case-specific and subject to change |
| Current status | Confirmed by court or authorized agency |
One old issuance event cannot settle current status. A later appearance, service, recall, or order can change the Arkansas County record.
Arkansas County and Federal Boundaries
A city or District Court warrant is not federal process. Arkansas County sits in the Eastern District of Arkansas, Delta Division. Federal dockets and sealed federal matters follow separate systems. The Helena courthouse is geographically tied to the division, while inquiries route to the staffed Little Rock clerk. The Eastern District FAQ documents the federal division route.
Federal records stay separate from Arkansas County city court warrants and local clerk contacts. PACER's official pricing page documents the account-based federal docket channel.
PACER is not a municipal warrant search. Sealed material may not appear, and the federal boundary keeps an Arkansas County citation from landing in the wrong system.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
Arkansas County has no universal recall form, citywide amnesty event, fixed warrant fee, or posted walk-in process. Ask the issuing clerk what the judge requires. It might be an appearance, payment, proof, a new setting, bond, counsel, or a motion. An old DeWitt payment statement is history, not present instructions.
- Confirm the court, case, and current warrant status.
- Ask what caused the warrant or order.
- Ask whether a judge must approve recall.
- Complete the authorized appearance, filing, payment, or proof step.
- Request confirmation that the docket reflects the court's action.
Caution: Payment or a message does not automatically recall an Arkansas County city court warrant; verify the resulting order with the issuing clerk.
Arkansas County Local Court Gaps
Gillett has a verified District Court clerk but no current police warrant portal. DeWitt offers city-service navigation and a court-calendar clue, not a public warrant search. Humphrey's city website displays out-of-state-style phone data, so it should not supply an Arkansas contact. Almyra posts no current town warrant portal either. These gaps point back to the citation, the current AOC district directory, and the proper clerk. The sheriff's Most Wanted page is only a selected list. Its omission cannot certify that no Arkansas County warrant exists, and ARCH also excludes active warrants.
- FTA
- Failure to appear in a required court setting.
- Recall
- Court action withdrawing a warrant.
- Quash
- Court action canceling process, subject to the order.
- Active
- A status that requires current official confirmation.
Note: Call before visiting because no general municipal surrender or bond-desk hours were posted.
Arkansas County Municipal Access Limits
Arkansas FOIA lets you ask for a city or district record that already exists and is not exempt. Send the request to the docket custodian, not automatically the Arkansas County Clerk. Name the court, the date range, the case type, and the document you want. The agency has no duty to build a municipal warrant database, and ACIC or NCIC material stays off the public route. Whatever list you find, ask the clerk one thing straight: was the warrant issued, served, recalled, quashed, returned, or replaced? Ask too whether a new setting or payment is separate from the warrant decision. A sheriff list, an old Arkansas County city calendar, and a booking roster each capture only one slice. None of them tells the whole story.
